Today is a rest day and we didn’t have any big plans. The ranch where we are staying offered us a hayride. It wasn’t your typical hayride; we went around the ranch and met some of their animals that include cows, donkeys and chickens. We went to the back of their property where the owner, Ernie, showed us damage done by the wild boar. There were three skeletons from recent boar kills. He has one taxidermied and the rest he leaves for the buzzards and coyotes to eat. He told us about breeding of his cows as well. The donkeys on his ranch love people and posed for a few pictures. It was an interesting ride.
I had my tires on my bike rotated today and Chandler and Coach took the time to teach me to take off a tire and put one back on. They have a tool that helps with that last part of the tire where I don’t have enough strength to stretch the tire over the rim. I might just be able to fix a flat on the road, or at least get it to that last tough part. The ladies played cards again today, but instead of playing for rocks, we played for Bubba chips. For the uninitiated, Bubba chips are purchased to buy drinks. I won the first game and gave everyone their chips back so we could play again. If you lost the game, you lost the equivalent of three dollars. Janet won the second game, and because she doesn’t drink, she gave me her chips. I tried to give them all back again, but the ladies thought it was fairer for me to keep them. So, we compromised, and I gave everyone two of their three chips back. I will have a glass of wine tonight (it costs three chips). Life is good.
On the hay ride, we did go see the neighbor's pond.
