Day 38 - Rest Day in St. Francisville, LA

Today is a rest day, and it is definitely warmer as it reached 70 degrees today.  Still cloudy, but warmth is a good thing.  Bubba offered shuttles into the historic section of St. Francisville and I used one. St. Francisville is the second oldest incorporated town in Louisiana. I walked around town with PaPow (Chris) and we saw quite a few older homes that have been preserved; 146 structures are on the National Register Historic District.  As we talked to a few people, and read some of the markers, it was discovered that many have been moved to their current locations.  There were many different styles of architecture with a few included below.  We also went to the location of Grandmother’s Buttons – an old bank converted to a gift/jewelry shop.  It was a store I could have spent a great deal of time browsing, however, just as we walked up, two bus loads of tourists pulled up.  I bought a few post cards and headed out.  We ended the short trip with a stop at the Magnolia café.  We each had one of their “world-famous” cookies and soft drink/tea.  The six ladies played a couple of card games again - this time just for rocks.  Queenie won both games!  Tomorrow is 86 miles....
