Day 15 - Rest Day in Columbus, NM

We started the day by visiting the Pancho Villa State Park.  We were given a special presentation by Ric Lambert of the First Aero Squadron. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening presentation; I had to take pictures of some of the slides.  Columbus, NM is famous for being the place where the U.S. began it's first military aviation unit.  From there we shuttled down to the Mexican border and crossed by foot as a group.  We entered by foot because it was so much easier entering the U.S. On the way back. We took a group photo at the statue of Pancho Villa and then walked across the street to the Pink Store/Restaurant.  We had a great lunch and were serenaded at our tables.  A few of my relatives will be surprised to hear that I had two margaritas because they know I don't like tequila.  I also tasted a sweetened tequila liquor - it was great.  If I weren't still traveling by bike, I may have purchased some of this for my son and son-in-law.  It was nice to have a rest day today.  Tomorrow we head 75 miles to El Paso.
